Southern Forest World held a Back to School Splash last month to celebrate Smokey the Bear’s 80th birthday this year.
The popular venue was filled with children and volunteers enjoying birthday cake, games, and receiving free school supplies.
“The school bags had notebook paper, composition book, subject notebook, pencils, crayons, markers, pencil box, scissors, glue stick, and gifts from the Waycross Board of Tourism and from Rayonier,” said Executive Director Bertha Sue Dixon.
Children younger than school age were given bags with coloring books and crayons.
