Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol has been added to the charges of a Soperton, Ga., man being held in the Ware County Jail for a homicide.
Cejay Louis Heath, 26, was earlier charged with Homicide by Vehicle in the August 15 death of Sterling Jesse Rawdin, 25 of Griffin, Ga.
Waycross Police Department Major Danny Hampton said Monday, September 16, a DUI charge against Heath was added last week.
The charge resulted from additional evidence being obtained related to the incident in the 400 block of Memorial Avenue. Hampton said the investigation is ongoing.
WPD officers responded at about 10:30 p.m. August 15 to a call for an accident near LL Creek Bar and Grill. Rawdin was found lying in the parking lot seriously injured when law enforcement personnel arrived.
Rawdin was transported by Ware County EMS to Memorial Satilla Health where he later succumbed to the injuries suffered in the accident.
WPD alerted area law enforcement to “be on the lookout” for a Ford F350 dual cab pickup believed to be involved in the accident.
The following day, Heath was arrested and charged with homcide as well as other traffic charges.
