David Lamar Mullis

WAYCROSS — Mr. David Lamar Mullis, 83, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Hospice House Satilla in Waycross following a short illness.

Mullis was born in Douglas to the late Leo Mullis and Thelma Todd Mullis Sirmons. He retired from CSX Transportation as a railroad clerk after many years of employment.

Following retirement, Mullis spent most of his time farming cows, chickens, and hogs. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Millwood Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by two sons, Michael David “Mike” Mullis and Todd Mullis; and two brothers, Charles Mullis and Leo Lavonne Mullis.

Mullis He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay Vickers Mullis of Millwood; five grandchildren, Chandler Mullis, Tyler Mullis (Radney Barnes), Spencer Mullis, Parker Mullis, and Lexi Kearley; three great grandchildren, Ellie Barnes, Finley Barnes, and Maggie Mullis; a sister, Frances Mullis Blacknall (Willis) of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Monday, September 16 at Millwood Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Hospice House Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, 31501.
