HAMPTON, Ga. — Mrs. Brenda Joyce Slack, 73, transitioned Monday, September 2, 2024, under Sacred Journey Hospice care at her daughter’s residence in Hampton, Ga.
She was born September 6, 1950 in Waycross to the late Willie Edward Bell and Fluressa Greene Bell. Mrs. Slack was a member of the Class of 1968 at Center High School. She started her career at Roses Department Store. For several years, she worked for Concerted Services supporting Elderly Services. She also served on the Satilla Community Service Board still supporting our senior citizens. Mrs. Slack later went on to work as the Apartment Manager at Central Park Apartments. She ended her career and retired from ERC as a customer service representative.
Mrs. Slack supported the local community as an active member of the Black Action Committee in Waycross. She was a member of Emmanuel International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and often attended Kingdom Dominion Ministries International.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alonzo Bell, Sr.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Slack (Kyra) of Lilburn, Ga.; her daughter, Stacy Tyus of Hampton; grandchildren, Allesa Tyus, Joshua Tyus, Seth Tyus, and Kayla Slack; two sisters, Beverly Gainer of Waycross, and Carolyn Thomas of Jesup; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Slack loved and cherished her family and she will be remembered for her generous and caring spirit.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 21 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at noon Saturday at the funeral home.
