WAYCROSS — Emerson James “Jim” Hunsinger, 80, of Waycross died Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, at his residence after an extended illness.
Hunsinger was born in Lockhaven, Pa., to the late Bill T.
Hunsinger and Esther Jewe l s Hunsinger, and made Waycross his home since 1970. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force during The Vietnam War and retired as security from Regional
Hunsinger
Youth Detention Center (RYDC). He was an active member in Masonic Lodge 305 F&AM.
In addition to his parents, Hunsigner also was preceded in death by his son, Russell Wilson Hunsinger and a brother Theodore “Ted” Hunsinger.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carole Ann Hunsinger; two daughters, Joyce Colby of Blackshear, and Kathy King (husband Talmadge) of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Alison Hunsinger, Anna Taylor (husband Clay), Dalton Colby, and R.J. Hunsinger, Jr.; three great grandchildren, Mac Ponsell, Bella Hunsinger, and Chloe Taylor; a sister, April Tyler of Blackshear; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 22 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
