Special to the WJH Two area churches are combining to host a Fall Harvest Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.
Kirkland Church and Pearson Traditional Methodist Church will team to stage the celebration at Pearson Traditional Methodist, 54 East Roberts Avenue.
“It’ll be a big fifth Sunday service — heavy on singing and praising God — with a covered dish lunch spread at about noon,' said Brother Gary Griffin, pastor at both churches. “Our sister churches occasionally join for a big celebration and we always have many visitors. The public is certainly invited this time, and bring someone along.”
The covered dish meal will be furnished by the attendees and will be served in the Pearson Traditional Methodist social hall.
“Some attend the meal after going to their home churches, and that’s fine too,” Griffin said. “It’s a harvest celebration, so we want to ‘bring in the sheaves.’ We’re going to worship in song for most of the service and there will be a sermonette.”
