Ga. 4 rail crossing closed Sept. 24

Special to the WJH

CSX Transportation will close railroad crossings at State Route 4 Business and Dresden Street beginning Tuesday, September 24, CSX partner Southern Commercial Development, LLC announced.

This will be a total closure meaning no traffic will be allowed across the track until work is complete, SCD said.

CSX Transportation has announced it will have a rail team and surfacing team starting September 24. Work will take place on rails, panels, surfaces and ties depending on the location for up to two weeks.

This will require a total closure of the railroad crossings. The closure will necessitate rerouting traffic.

Signage will be in place marking detour routes. Motorists should anticipate extended travel times and delays resulting from the work, and are asked to avoid the area if at all possible.

SCD will update the community with any changes in the schedule as quickly as possible as they are highly likely in this field of work.

Note that any and all dates are subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen conditions.

SCD provides traffic control and detour signage for railroad crossing closures which require necessary maintenance and/or emergency repairs.
