WAYCROSS — JoAnn Troupe McCrea Brooks, 83, of Waycross, died early Thursday morning, September 5, 2024, at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Osierfield, Ga., in Irwin County, she lived in various places inc luding Waycross, Fitzgera ld, Jesup, St.
Mary’s and Col umbia, South Carolina.
Mrs Brooks attended Isabella Street Grammar School, Waycross High School, Wacona High School and graduated in 1959 from Ware County High School, where she was voted “Friendliest” in her graduating class.

David Elbert Troupe and Sarah Maddox Troupe; an infant son; and one nephew, Robert Tracy Bryant.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by three children, Joanie McCrea Blount (Shawn Clearwater) of St. Mary’s, Denise McCrea of Blackshear, Melissa McCrea Dodds (Mike) of Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Ronnie Blount (Amy), Brook Blount (Dani), John Blount (Jennie), Arron Campbell, Mitchell Wilcox (Hannah), Ryan Dodds, Lauren Dodds; 10 great grandchildren, Ethan Wilcox, Cooper Blount, Isaac Blount, Elliott Rose Blount, Everett Wilcox, Baxley Jean Blount, Merritt Monroe Blount, Beckett Jean Blount, Emmett Wilcox, Eleanor McCrea Blount; one sister, Mary Jane Bryant Mosley; two nieces, Michelle Rowe (Chris), Janice Pace (Jerry); three great nephews, Michael Carroll, Jaden Carroll, and Christopher Rowe, Jr.; and numerous other relatives.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7 in Oakland Cemetery.
