Grace Episcopal talks Taylor book Grace Episcopal Church, 401 Pendleton Street, will host a book study of Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others by renowned author and Episcopal priest Barbara Brown Taylor.

Shady Grove MBC concludes revival Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2909 Hwy 203 in Alma concludes its revival services today (Wednesday, September 11).

The Rev. Ray McMillan, pastor of Oak Hill Baptist Church will present the closing program. Special singing is planned for each service. Shady Grove pastor is Edmund Thrift.

St. Peter’s Baptist concludes revival St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church, 300 Fireman Street, concludes its annual revival today (Wednesday, September) and Thursday, September 12.

The program begins at 7 p.m. each day. Dr. K.C. Davis of First African Missionary Church in Kingsland will lead the worship.

Way of Cross EPC has food giveaway Way of the Cross EPC holds a free food and clothing giveaway at 8 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at 512 Lee Avenue.

People should bring a bag or box for items. The first-come, first-served giveaway will next be held October 5.

Items are available from donations by Waycross Food Distributor, Southern Acre Farm, LLC and Charlie’s Chicken.

Higher Heights has food ministry The food ministry of Higher Heights True Word of God offers items from 9 to 11 a.m., the first Thursday of each month at 979 Tebeau Street.

Next giveaway is Octobber 3. Serve one, save one is the mission of the ministry. The program is accepting donations.

DC Downtown has food ministry DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.

Men With Power meets 1st Saturday Men With Power meets the first Saturday of each month at Faith Outreach Ministries, 200 Tebeau Street.

The next meeting is 9 a.m. Saturday, October 5. The session is open to all men and boys.

Gaines Chapel seeks rehab funds Gaines Chapel AME Church, 801 South Georgia Parkway East, has started a fund-raising campaign via GoFundMe to help rehabilitate and restore the historic church.

The church, which has been idle since the coronavirus pandemic struck in early 2020, is among the oldest in Waycross dating to the late 1800s.

Since 2020, the building has faced flooding and shattered windows which have allowed the elements to take a toll on its structure. The ultimate goal of the church is to get the building rehabilitated and restore services.

To make a donation, visit the church’s Go-FundMe page titled, “Helping Restore Gaines Chapel AME Church.”

Church items deadline is Friday Deadline for items for the Religion Page is 4 p.m. on the Friday before publication on Wednesday.

Items may be emailed to [email protected] or delivered between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays to The Journal-Herald office at 311 Carswell Avenue. Items appear as space allows until out they are out of date.
