Sweat
HAZELHURST — Malcolm Lynwood “Mackie” Sweat, 78, of Hazlehurst passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at his residence under the care of Community Hospice.
Sweat was born October 30, 1945 in Ware County to the late Malcolm Willis “Mack” Sweat and the late Addie Mae Carter Sweat. He was a member of Satilla Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Hazlehurst Mills in Production Cont rol Managem ent. Sweat was also a veteran in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Moore Sweat.
Survivors include his daughter, Adriane (Rodney) Thomas of Hazlehurst; brother, Wayne (Susan) Sweat of Martinez, Ga.; nephew, Payton (Michelle) Sweat of North Augusta, S.C.; two grandchildren, Skyler (Katelyn) Thomas and Shaw Thomas; and one great grandchild, Asher Dane Thomas.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 2 at Satilla Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Smith and Mr. Jimmie Ryles officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Dobbie Cauley, Jerry Hand, Steven Swain, Matt Johnston, Chad Bruce, and Eddie O’Neal.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home, Baxley.
