City couple hurt in single-vehicle accident on Brunswick Highway

A Waycross couple was injured in a single-vehicle accident last week in the 2100 block of Brunswick Highway, the Ware County Sheriff’s Office said.

William Luther Peacock Sr. 76, and Wanda Annette Peac0ck, 77, both of the 2300 block of Hilliard Avenue, were injured in the 1:05 p.m. incident Monday, August 19, the accident report said. Both were life-flighted to University of Florida-Shands in Jacksonville after initial treatment by Ware County EMS.

K-9 Patrol Deputy Andy Bryan was dispatched to a business for a report of a single- vehicle rollover on Brunswick Highway.

Upon arrival, Bryan observed a blue Ford F150 pickup truck on its roof with both the driver and passenger trapped inside the vehicle, the report said.

EMS was already on the scene. The driver was unconscious, but breathing, and the passenger was alert and talking to EMS personnel.

Patrol Cpl. Brandon Taylor advised contact with the Georgia State Patrol, and Trooper Dallas Harper later arrived to investigate the accident, the report said.

A witness to the accident said the pickup was traveling westbound when it veered into the west shoulder and crossed all five lanes of traffic.

The vehicle landed on the eastbound shoulder and traveled through a ditch near the shoulder before it hit a front endloader which caused the truck to flip.

It made contact with two other pieces of heavy equipment in the parking lot before coming to rest upside down in the parking lot of the business, the report said.
