Carrie Elizabeth Bennett has been chosen to receive the 2024 Education Scholarship from the Delta Zeta Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Education Sorority.
Bennett is enrolled in the teacher education program at South Georgia State College’s campus in Douglas.
The resident of Pearson has been a Dean’s List and President’s List honoree during her tenure at SGSC. Bennett also has received other academic honors and awards.
Bennett graduated from the American High School, a distinguished online educational institution. At SGSC, she is working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary/special education.
As a senior, Bennett will do her student teaching at Pearson Elementary School in first grade.
The scholarship award offered by the Delta Zeta Chapter was created for students who’ve chosen the field of education as a career and have been admitted to the teacher education program from an accredited college or university. Included in the application process for consideration is an essay on the decision to pursue education as a career. In her essay, Bennett revealed her passion for teaching and her goals for academic growth and development to increase student learning for successful outcomes across diverse learners.
“Education is more than just a profession; it is a sacred calling to mold young minds, nurture hearts, and pave the way for brighter futures,” Bennett wrote. My aspirations in the educational field are deeply personal, stemming from my experiences that have profoundly shaped my beliefs and values.
“I firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, not just academically. As an educator, my ultimate mission is to create an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic learning environment that not only will benefit my students, but will also contribute to the betterment of the educational system as whole.
“Through these goals, I hope to make a lasting impact on my students’ futures, my growth as an educator, and the broader world of education.”
