Brantley County dropped its first Region 1A DII series last week with Jeff Davis taking two of the three games.
The Lady Herons (5-3 overall, 3-3 region) had its second two-game winning streak of the season snapped in the Tuesday, August 20 series opener at home with a 10-1 “mercy rule” setback.
The Lady Yellow Jackets captured the series win in the Thursday, August 22 opener winnning 1-0. BCHS bounced back in the doubleheader finale winning 11-7.
Brantley County traveled Tuesday, August 27 to Alma to take on Bacon County (3-1) in the opener of a three-game set. The series shifts back to Caney Bay for a doubleheader Thursday, August 29. The Lady Red Raiders’ victories came in a three-game sweep of Jeff Davis.
The Lady Herons will travel Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7 to Greenbrier High School in Evans to play three games. Brantley County opens with Lakeside of Atlanta Friday night. The Lady Heros face Evans and host Greenbrier Saturday.

CANEY BAY — Visiting Jeff Davis scored in each of the first four innings in building a 10-0 en route to the win in five innings.
The Lady Yellow Jackets plated two runs in the first, three in the second, four in third and one in the fourth with Brantley County averting the shutout with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Lydia Anderson collected two of the Lady Herons’ three hits going 2for-3 and scoring the lone run. She also had two stolen bases. Rilee Story went 1-for-2.
Chelsea Turner (2+ IP, 7 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 1 K, 0 BB, 1 HBP) and Reagan Mclain (3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) worked from the pitching rubber for Brantley County.

HAZELHURST — The Lady Yellow Jackets made a first inning run standup in clinching the series win.
Emma Grace Blocker, Brooklyn Wildes, Story (double) and Turner (double) recorded the Lady Herons’ four hits.
Mary Hall (6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 2 BB) needed just 60 pitches in the complete game performance.

HAZELHURST — Brantley County’s bats finally came to life in the series finale with the Lady Herons banging out 12 hits.
Wildes led the hit parade going 4for-5 with a double and two RBI. Kelsie Bishop (2-for-5, two doubles, two ribbies), Story (2-for-4, RBI) and Turner (2-for-2, two RBI) collected multi-hit games. Caiden Jones (1-for-1) and Sydnee Davis (1-for-2, stolen base) also registered hits. Mallory Crosby swiped two bases with Anderson notching one stolen base.
Four pitchers combined for the win. Edie Lowther (4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 1 BB), Hall (1.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 0 K, 0 BB), Mclain (1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) and Turner (.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP) worked for the Lady Herons.
