Bears maul Tattnall County 37-7, to host Laney in playoffs

The Pierce County Bear football team traveled to face the Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors on November 4, winning 37-7. The Bears finish the regular season with a 9-1 record and as the second seed in Region 3-AA at 5-1. The Bears will host Laney in the first round of the AA State Playoffs Friday, November 11. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m.

The match-up with Laney will be the first ever contest between the two schools. Laney is currently 8-2 overall and 5-2 in Region 4-AA. The Wildcats defeated Strom Thurmond (SC) 14-0 on August 19, beat Hephzibah 26-17 on August 26, won against First Presbyterian 26-14 on September 9, lost to Thomson 15-14 on September 16, defeated Butler 26-16 on September 24, defeated Washington County 28-18 on September 29, defeated Josey 22-6 on October 7, won against Westside (Augusta) 14-3 on October 21, lost to Putnam County 27-26 on October 28 and defeated Glenn HIlls 48-0 on November 4.

Scoring Recap

Tattnall scored on a four-yard run and after adding the extra point led 7-0 at the 9:50 mark in the first quarter.

The Bears answered on a seven-yard run by DJ Bell. Jonah Allen added the extra point to tie the game at 7-7 with 2:39 remaining in the first quarter.

The Bears took a 9-7 lead on a safety at the 3:37 mark in the second quarter.

Bell connected with Wade DiBiase on a 25-yard pass to increase the lead, with the extra point by Allen, to 16-7 at halftime.

Jimarion Guyton scored next on a 19-yard run. Allen added the extra point making the score 23-7 at the 10:57 mark in the third quarter.

Bell found Carson Sloan on a 35-yard pass to increase the lead to 30-7, following the extra point by Allen, with 6:22 remaining in the third quarter.

Guyton scored on a 33-yard run to make the final score, with the extra point by Allen, 37-7.
