Agnes Gunter Hickox

WAYCROSS — Mrs. Agnes Gunter Hickox, 93, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at her residence in Waycross following a short illness.

Mrs. Hickox was born in Pierce County to the late Loyd Lawton Gunter and Susie Altman Gunter. She was a homemaker most of her life. She was formerly employed with Rubin Brothers Footwear.

Mrs. Hickox was a member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Blackshear.

In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Eugene “Gene” Hickox; two sisters, Teresa Taylor (Calvin) and Vernell Lee (Eugene); two sisters-inlaw, Carolyn Gunter and Sina Hickox; and a brother-in-law, Harold Petty.

Mrs. Hickox is survived by a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Taylor (Carlos) of Waycross; a son, Michael E. Hickox (Amy) of Waycross; four grandchildren, Emma Claborn (Casey), Austin Taylor (Madison), Ashton Taylor and Lilly Hickox; four great grandchildren, Joshua Gabriel Claborn, Ariella Grace Claborn, Eli Brooks Taylor and Lairsey Elaine Taylor; former daughter-in-law, Peggy Gibson; a sister, Yevonne Petty of Marietta; a brother, H.L. Gunter of Waycross; brother and sisters-in-law, Bobby Hickox, Judy Farr, Linda Stipe and Gary Hickox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Thursday, August 15 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Mars Hill Cemetery.
