WAYCROSS — Mrs. Joan Vivian Ashley, 92, of Waycross died Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024, at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Ashley was born in San Francisco, Calif., to the late Engel True Mayne and Elaine Coffman Mayne. She grew up in Cali fornia before moving to Georgia.

Mrs. Ashley spent many years in Statesboro where she was active with her husband in his medical practice and WillingWay Hospital, and later at his practice in Fayetteville, Ga., before settling in Waycross 18 years ago to be near her daughter and her family.

Mrs. Ashley retired from Touchstone Family Medical Center in College Park, Ga., where she worked as a Certified Addiction Counselor. In Waycross, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, sang in the choir and was very active in the Good Samaritan Program. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Magnolia House.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Ashley was preceded in death by her husbands, William E. Gray, M.D., John Graden and Paul Ashley; two sisters, Jill Mayne and Donna Johnson; a brother, Jack Kelly. Mrs. Ashley is survived by four children, Christine Watson of Vallejo, Calif., Steven Watson of Brunswick, Leslie Seaman and her husband, Michael, of Sausalito, Calif., and Stacey Laroche and her husband, Ronald, of Waycross; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her granddaughter who has been with her every step of the way, Jessica Perritt of Waycross; a special sonin- law, Daryl Perritt of Waycross; as well as numerous other relatives.

A memorial service was held Monday, August 19 at the First Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 601 Hill Street, Waycross, 31501, or to the Magnolia House, P.O. Box 1824, Waycross, 31502.

The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to the staff at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center, and to her caregiver, Jennifer Crews, for all of the outstanding care and love that was shown to Mrs. Ashley throughout the past several years.
