Blackshear Actress Nikki DeLoach will star in Hallmark’s® first faith-based Christmas movie debuting prior to the holidays.
“The Gift of Peace” is slated to debut on The Hallmark Channel at 10 p.m. Saturday, December 10. The film marks the first movie produced under Hallmark’s faith-based brand DaySpring®.
The movie tells the story of “a once-devout Christian who stops believing in God after her husband tragically died. As her second Christmas without him approaches, she tries going to a support group for inspiration and comfort.”
DeLoach took time from her busy schedule Monday to talk about the film. She recently returned from an event in Nashville, TN, and is currently working on filming another project in Canada and is trying her hand at writing, too. The Los Angeles based actress also worked in a couple of days at home with her family.
“It’s a special project to me. It is the first faith-based movie that Hallmark has ever done,” DeLoach shared. “I’m a person of deep faith so it was really cool to be a part of that.”
DeLoach says the movie is “about grief and it’s one of the most emotional movies Hallmark has ever done so we’re kind of breaking the mold with this one.”
The message of overcoming grief was one that has especially hit close to home for the actress.
DeLoach’s father, local businessman David DeLoach, passed away last July at age 66.
“...(W)hat I’m learning is that it really helps when you can connect with other people and share your grief with others,” DeLoach explained. “We think we have to go through things in isolation and it’s just not the way we’re supposed to human. This movie is kind of a blueprint of how to find the joy and the light amid the grief.”
DeLoach says she is grateful to have been a part of the film and she hopes her hometown fans will enjoy “The Gift of Peace”, too.
DeLoach is the daughter of retired school superintendent Terri DeLoach. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Ryan, and two young sons, Hudson and Bennett.
