Library committee meets Thursday The Waycross-Ware County Public Library Constitution and By-laws Committee will meet at 4 p.m., Thursday, August 15, in the library at 401 Lee Avenue.

NAACP meeting slated Thursday The Waycross branch of the NAACP holds its general membership meeting at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, August 15, at American Legion Post 517 ballroom, 710 Dorothy Street.

Unison meetings set Thursday Unison Behavioral Health has scheduled three meetings Thursday, August 15 in its board room, 1007 Mary Street.

Legion Post 517 meets Aug. 21

American Legion Post 517 holds its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 21 at 710 Dorothy Street.

Marine League has Thursday meetings All Marines and others interested in supporting Marines and other veterans are invited to the regular monthly meeting of the Waycross Marine Corps League Detachment 1333.

The group meets the third Thursday of each month at The Olive Garden in Waycross. The next meeting is August 15.

First-time participants receive a free meal for the visit. Dinner and social hour is 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting.

UN expert talks on UNESCO Aug. 22 Nationally syndicated radio host and United Nations expert Alex Newman will give a presentation about UNESCO at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 22 at the Waycross Exchange Club, 2401 Knight Avenue.

The event, presented by Americans for the Okefenokee, is free and open to the public.

Newman is an awardwinning journalist, and nationally syndicated radio host who speaks to groups all over the country about the U.N. He will explain why UNESCO is a danger.
