Memorial Satilla Health Family Residency Program graduates, Dr. Suzana Rocha and Dr. Vafa Sobhani, were recognized recently at a ceremony held at Okefenokee Country Club.

“Congratulations on this remarkable achievement. We are incredibly proud of you and excited to see all the ways you will continue to make a difference in the world,' said Brandi Waters, VP of medical staff services & quality at Memorial Satilla Health. “I’d also like to acknowledge and thank the faculty and staff who have guided, mentored, and supported our graduates.

“Your dedication to teaching and your passion for medicine are helping to shape the future of healthcare.”

Drs. Rocha and Sobhani trained in Waycross for two of their three-year training through the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta University.

Memorial Satilla Health was designated as a “teaching hospital” in 1998 when the state recognized the facility as a true leader in this region for providing quality healthcare. Waycross is the smallest community ever chosen for a family practice residency program in Georgia.

Residents receive inpatient training from local physicians at Memorial Satilla and other community physicians. The program has maintained accreditation by the American Council of Graduate Medical Education since the first class of graduates in June 2000.
