Bryson
WAYCROSS — Mrs. Sara Joyce Bryson, 77, died Sunday evening, July 28, 2024, at Hospice House Satilla after a brief illness.
Mrs. Bryson was born May 21, 1947 in Pierce County to the late Wendell Holmes Phillips and Helen Mae Benn ett Phillips Ammons. She gradu ated from Blackshear High School in 1965, then attended technical school where she became a lab tech, nurse and finally an allergy specialist.
Mrs. Bryson was formerly employed as an allergy specialist by Dr. Ivey Jacobs and Dr. George Heath.
She was a member of Blackshear Church of God.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bryson was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert “Bud” Bryson; her stepfather, Ashley Ammons; and siblings, Sybil Sue Phillips Carter (Ollie Eldon), Evelyn Ann Phillips Campbell (Charles Augustus), Albert Lee “Sonny” Phillips (Mary Jo Harris), Sheila Ammons Reaker (Jay Audrey) and Phillip Morris Ammons.
Survivors include her siblings, Theresa Nell Phillips Williams of Waycross, William Leon “Bill” Ammons of Houma, La., Ashley Jackson “Jackie” Ammons (Peggy Musgrove) of Fitzgerald and Sue Ann Gilliard of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Judy Green Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Saturday, August 3 at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling County.
