The Bible says:
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
— John 14: 1-3
I have property in Heaven, a place made by God just for me. But the same is true of every Believer. Every Christian, has an eternal home in Heaven.
It will be our final home. It is most likely because of their poor estate, (1 Corinthians 1: 26; James 2: 5) that most residents of Heaven never owned earthly land.
Most people when they look for property to build a house on look for property that is scenic; that has a beautiful woodland, or a beautiful body of water, or mountains with rivers and streams. They would choose a place where the cost of living was low and where there was a low crime rate.
Based on their income they will move to the poor, or middle class or rich section of the city.
They may find the perfect place but in a few years things change in that area and the waterways become polluted, the cost of living rises, and the crime rate is high and they seek another place to live. Things change on earth and it’s mostly from bad to worse.
But in Heaven, the only place where I have property, I’ll live in a city built by God, paid for with the blood of Jesus, and that never changes. This city will have 12 gates with the names of the 12 tribes of Israel written on them.
It will have 12 foundations garnished with precious stones and have the names of the 12 apostles on them. The city will be 12 thousand furlongs high, wide, and long. It will be pure transparent gold. Each city gate is made of one pearl.
The one street in the city is transparent gold. There is a pure river of the water of life in that city that flows from the throne of God and the tree of life grows on both its banks and in the middle of the street.
There are no poor, middle class, or rich sections in the city for all its residents are children of the King and live in one holy community. There is no crime because there are no criminals, for nothing that defiles can enter this city. Only those who are saved by grace reside in this city. (Revelation 21, 22)
Somewhere in this holy and celestial city there is a piece of property that has my name on the door.
This city was spoken into existence by God. Contrary to popular opinion there is no construction in Heaven.
John on the island of Patmos saw in his vision a completed city. If they wouldn’t allow any noise of construction on the site of Solomon’s temple though it was only material and temporal, (1 Kings 6: 7) then it certainly will not be allowed on the site of this most holy and celestial city that was not made by hand.
(Hebrew 9: 11; 11: 10) The preparations Jesus was referring to was not to prepare us a place of residents but rather through His death and resurrection He would obtain for us access and a right to be there.
Do you have property in Heaven?
