People in our county should care more
Dumping animals in creeks, ponds and rivers is a shame and sad. It contaminates the water. Photo By WAYNE MORGAN

I have not complained about much lately, but I believe it’s about time.

I love riding dirt roads sometimes in our county. Just a few days ago, I took the dirt road tow ards Nahunta from my house. I saw the buzzard's way before I got to them and I was afraid of what I was going to find. The smell was horrible.

This is something that I will never understand. Why do people throw dead animals in the creeks, ponds and rivers of our county?

The buzzards are a really good cleanup crew, but they do not like splashing around in water to get their food.

I bet there were 20 or 30 birds in the trees and on the ground within sight of the dog, but could not get to it.

There is no sense in this. It contaminates the water. This was once a great fishing hole for bream and catfish.

Now, I would not trust eating anything out of it. If people would just leave the dead carcass in the woods the cleanup crew would gladly take care of it.

And, one other thing. While I was looking at the dead dog, on the other side of the road and closer to the railroad tracks, I noticed tires in the water. I bet there are 30 or more tires scattered in the ditch.

Dead animals on one side and tires on the other. I would like to think the people in our county care more about where we live than this, but I guess not.

It is truly a shame and sad.

Most of our county (especially the dirt roads) are beautiful, but this is not.
