Go-ahead given for design of new office building

The Brantley County Commissioners approved two new items in addition to the regular agenda at Thursday night’s meeting.

Commissioners approved beginning the design and building process of new offices for the Tax Commissioner, Tax Assessor, Planning Commission and 911.

The Commissioners approved to have Allstate Construction be in charge of the process. Funding will be paid with Capital Projects Funds 2025 SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) and future tax collections from Chemours. It will be on county land on Hwy. 301.

The board announced the re-appointments of Michael Hickox and Cheri Griffin to the Library Board. They appointed Hannah Boggs to the Planning Commission and Daren Crews to the Development Authority.

Also approved was a motion to purchase a 2025 Mac Granite 64 dump truck through Sourcewell. It will have a 16-foot bed. The cost will be $224,011.52.
