FOLKSTON — Sharon Kay Bailey Prescott, 86 of Folkston, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, in Jacksonville, Fla., following an extended illness.

Mrs. Prescott was born July 7, 1938 in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Leon Bailey and Edith Johns Bailey. She met her love, John Elvie Prescott, in 1956 while working as a waitress at her father’s restaurant, Bud’s. They married the next year and enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his passing.

She was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Prescott ws also preceded in death by her husband, John Elvie Prescott; a grandson, Luke Oliveira; a brother and sister- in-law, Fred and Sue Bailey; and two sisters, Patricia Bailey and Louise Walton.

She is survived by her children, Reed (Paulo) Prescott, Laurie (Mackie) Prescott, Russell (Jane) Prescott and LeAnne (Matt) Oliveira; six grand children, John Hall, Bethany (Tony) Ulses, Drew (Brittany) Hall, Taylor Prescott, Ben (Amelia) Prescott and Bailey (John Michael) Wilson; eight great grandchildren, Riley Oliveira, Matthew Oliveira, Brody Hooker, Delaney Hall, Jacob Hall, Zachery More, Madelyne More and Axton Ulses; and a sister, Leona Kathcart.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 14 at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, November 15 at 10 a.m., at Corinth Cemetery with Pastor Lee Bailey officiating.
