Lady Herons 15th at state cross-country, Evans 20th in boys’ meet

CARROLLTON — Brantley County’s Lady Herons run to a Class A Division I state title was upended with a 15th-place showing here in the finals Friday.

Bleckley County swept the girls’ and boys’ titles. The Lady Royals easily captured their victory compiling 29 points in the field of 24 teams. Bleckley County had the top two runners and five of the first 13 finishers.

The Lady Herons best finish with a

37th-place showing by Klara Barnes with a time of 24:23.11 in the field of 154 runners. The winning time was 18:52.51.

Hayze Evans represented the Herons’ program finishing 20th in the field of 171 competitors with a time of 19:21.22. The winning mark was 16:56.65.

Following Bleckley County in the Top

10 were Fannin County (102), Jeff Davis

(110), Bremen (119), Model (185), Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy (216), Armuchee (223), Banks County (261), Jasper County (297) and Gordon Lee

(329).

Finishing 11 through 20 were Haralson County (339), Dade County (346), Vidalia (349), Oglethorpe County (359), Brantley County (396), Toombs County

(410), Berrien (429), Rabun County

(502), Gordon Central 524) and Putnam County (526).

Rounding out the field were Thomasville (545), Woodville-Tompkins

(572), Dublin (574) and ACE Charter

(587).

Also running for the Lady Herons were Avery Crews (42nd, 24:40.55), Linzi Parker (96th, 28:38.91), Delaney Lloyd

(106th, 29:33.30), Mariah Wittrien

(125th, 31:45.89), Kaycee Johnson

(139th, 34:22.05) and Kambria Leveen

(146th, 35:46.05).
