Way to go, competition cheerleaders! Coach Mandy Beverly and the Region 3-AA champion PCHS “Cheer Bears” finished as state class AA runner-up squad this past Friday in Macon. Team members included Aniston Allen, Suzanna Carrin, Ansleigh Cyr, Lindy Dyal, Julia Green, Alaina Harvard, Zoie Hendry, Serena Hickox, Maddie Malone, Kallan Mills, Katie Jo Mills, Sarah Jane Moore, Kaitlyn Sapp, Mylee Simmons, Paris Starling, Lillie Stipe, Ava Strickland, Addison Strickland, Ansley Tippins and Mollie Williams.

Take a bow, one-act team! Mrs. Kellie Justice and the Region 3-AA champion cast and crew of  Silent Sky finished fourth in the state class AA competition this past weekend in Warner Robins. Addy Cantrell and Cianna Kicklighter were each named to the all-star cast. Other cast and crew members for PCHS included: Kaley Robins, Austin Sprinkle, Lauren Crawford, Hannah Vonvechio, Kelly Brewster, Emma Dyal, Seraphim Howard, Justin Herrin, Destiny Lloyd, Hannia Martinez, Melvin Sallet, Sarah Stone, Emma Thornton, Riley Vaverchak and Shadana Warren.

We salute PCHS Bears football on a 42-14 victory over the Laney Wildcats! This Friday, the Bears host Berrien County in round two of the state playoffs. This is the seventh straight season in which PCHS has advanced to the second round or beyond in the football state playoffs. Current reserved ticket holders can pick up their tickets today (Wednesday) and all remaining tickets will be sold on Thursday. Tickets will be sold from 11-1 on both days. Fans can report to the front office of PCHS to buy their tickets. You can also visit

Shout out to the following students for being named to the 2022-23 Junior Board of Directors for Hospice Satilla: Rylee Carden, Grace Christopher, Britton Larson, Regan Mauffray, Mollie McQuaig, Sarah Jane Moore, Ava Murray, Liset Nolasco, Mackenzie Quick, Sophie Scruggs, Leah Smith, Lilly Spivey and Maura Kate Waters.

Congratulations to the PCHS Forestry team, for winning first place in competition at the Okefenokee Fair. Team members included Madison McSwain, Emma Knowlton, Nathan McSwain and Regan Clements.

Kudos to the following students who recently received their certification in EverFi Finance Academy. This program includes seven modules on a variety of personal financial literacy topics including Banking, Income & Employment, Budgeting, Consumer Skills, Managing Credit & Debt, Financing Higher Education, and Insurance, giving students the tools they’ll need to successfully manage their financial future. Students included Brandon Vela, Nick Fulford, Ziasia Williams, Renee Howell, Lorelai Thompson, Katelynn Owens, Alexis Sauls, Ashlyn Woolsey, Kymber Minchew, Emily Anderson and Thomas Cobb.

The next FFA meeting will be today (Wednesday) immediately after school in the Ag room. FFA members, also mark your calendars for the FFA Christmas Party, set for December 16 on Jekyll Island. See Mr. Ratliff or Mr. Prescott if you have questions.

Juniors and seniors, make plans now to attend the College Fair at PCHS this Thursday, November 17 from 5:30-7 p.m. You can sign up today at registerprobe.com. More than 30 colleges and universities are scheduled to be on hand, including the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University and the United States Naval Academy.

Friday is an early release day at PCHS, with Thanksgiving break taking place all next week (November 21-25). Friday’s academic session will be called “Adulting Day”. Seniors will take a field trip that includes Blackshear’s city hall, the Pierce County Courthouse and the Courthouse Annex. Juniors will receive instructions on campus in the following areas: home maintenance, clothing care, auto care and an “in the kitchen” segment. Sophomores will receive hands-on training in writing resumes. Freshmen will focus on the following: signing your name, creating a budget, writing a check, addressing an envelope, writing “thank you” notes and arranging items alphabetically and in numerical order.

PCHS wrestling opens the season Thursday at Charlton County. The home opener is November 22 against Brantley County and Long County.

Seniors, South Georgia State College is waiving their application fee during the month of November for those seniors who plan to enroll after graduation. See Mr. Tommy or Mrs. Angie for more.

FCA meets every Thursday morning at 7:45 in the auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend and to bring a friend. It’s a great way to start your day.
