Several months ago, we worked on getting a family trip together to Colorado.
Bonnie and I had been a couple of times, but the rest of our bunch have not and we wanted them to see some of the things that we’ve seen.
W e stayed i n Estes Park for the first few days and the Garden of the Gods the last few days.
Our group consisted of me, Bonnie, my daughter Kristen, my son Kyle, grandson Kase and grandson Kannon.
Kyle loves his nighttime photography more than I do, but I did go with him to get pictures of the comet Tsuchinshaw -ATLAS 1356 (also called C/2023 A3) when he told me after this weekend, it wouldn't be seen again for 80,000 years.
I figured I probably wouldn't catch the next one, so I better try to catch it this time around!
I got some wildlife pictures of Big Horn Sheep, Elk and Mule Deer and a quite a bit of scenery.
Kristen and Kyle went on one early morning trip by themselves. She saw a mama bear and two cubs (that I didn’t get to see). Kyle got a lot of his scenery and nighttime stuff.
I met the owner of “Squatchy,” which is a doughnut shop in Estes Park near the hotel we were staying in. He has a Sasquatch/Bigfoot themed shop with movies and a couple of big replicas inside and out. The owner was originally from McIntosh County. I talked with him a few times and found out his name was Jack Skinner. He graduated in 1989 from McIntosh County Academy and has not been back since then. (Donuts were great by the way.)
On our last day there, we drove to the top of Pikes Peak, which was 14, 115 feet above sea level. When we got to the top, the temperature was 32 degrees, fog was terrible, and the wind was blowing 70 miles per hour.
Not the best conditions for picture taking.
I think the family now has some great memories and I am glad of that, but there’s NO PLACE LIKE HOME here in Southeast Georgia.
