LYONS — Brantley County’s junior varsity crosscountry teams competed here Thursday in the Three Rivers Cross-Country Classic hosted by Toombs County.
The Lady Herons finished fourth in the seven-team girls’ event with the Herons also placing fourth in the 18-team boys’ meet. Bleckley County posted a sweep of the meet.
The Lady Royals finished with 27 points after placing five runners in the Top 10. They were followed by Coffee (61), Statesboro (92), Brantley County (102), Long County (110), Telfair County (126) and East Laurens (167).
Avery Crews logged a fourth-place finish in the field of 64 runners posting a season-best time of 22:26.80. The winning time was 20:45.10.
Crews was followed by Klara Barnes (7th, season-best 23:18.50), Delaney Lloyd (24th, season-best 28:07.90), Kaycee Johnson (45th, season-best 33:34.10) and Mallory Crosby (46th, season-best 33:44.10).
Bleckley County’s Royals finished with 38 points with five runners placing in the Top 10. They were followed by Valdosta (66), Wayne County (102), Brantley County (131), Long County (218), Coffee (225), Effingham County (225), Jeff Davis (241), Berrien (245) and Statesboro (257).
The rest of the field was made up of Montgomery County (280), ACE Charter (281), Vidalia (343), Brunswick (356), Dublin (381), Telfair County (395), Atkinson County (403) and Bacon County (490).
Hayze Evans paced the Herons finishing third in the field of 166 runners with a time of 19:00.80. The winning time was 18:19.70.
Evans was followed by Max Herrin (15th, 20:22), Steven Roberson (29th, season-best 21:34.30), Evinrude Green (30th, season-best 21:34.80) and Carter Lentz (89th, season-best 24:18.50).
