NAHUNTA — The Brantley County Commissioners discussed the Emergency Services Advisory Board among several items during their regular monthly meeting Thursday.
Commissioners will be asked to approve the enhancement of the 911 Advisory Board with a few positions added in their ordinances. While it does not meet the criteria of the State’s Advisory Board, the commissioners do have a comprehensive package.
In other business handled during the October 3 meeting, commissioners approved a request by Sheriff Len Davis to fit two new trucks with a lighting package and a radio. The total cost will be $19,296.12.
A correction was needed in reference to Republic’s service contract for trash pickup. The contract will end at the end of February 2025.
It is a five-year contract which had two renewable years. The contract is closing in on the second renewable year.
Should the commissioners put out a request for quotes or proposals, the process will begin in November.
Commissioners also made a couple of appointments to boards. Nick Gillis was appointed to the Recreation Advisory Board and James Jacobs was appointed to the Planning Commission.
The commission also approved the proclamation for Retired Educators Day, which will be Sunday, November 3.
Commissioners also approved the proclamation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month for October.
The next county commission work session is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5 at 6 p.m., with the next regular meeting set for Thursday, November 7 at 6 p.m., at the Brantley County Commissioners Office.
