HORTENSE — Gloria Sheppard Johns, 62 of Hortense, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at her daughter’s residence following an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, Mrs. Johns’ parents were Jack Dan “J.D.” Sheppard and Verdie Lee Warner Sheppard. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Joshua Ben Sheppard.

Mrs. Johns was a homemaker who loved anything outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, cleaning, fishing and going to the river. Mrs. Johns also enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her animals.

Survivors include her two daughters, Brandy Renee Willis Dixon and Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Willis, both of Nahunta; three grandchildren, Tessa C. Dixon, Sage M. Dixon and Harlee R. Willis; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack “Danny” Dan Sheppard (Tammy) of Hortense and Benjamin Cliff Sheppard (Angela) of Waynesville; a sister, Gail Ella Sheppard Moore of Waynesville; five nieces and nephews, Leeanna Moore, Jacob Sheppard (Taylor), Jacqueline Stone (Brock), Brandon Sheppard (Britannii) and Jeremy Sheppard (Katie); also several other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held Thursday, October 3, 2024 Warners-Ammons Cemetery with Rev. Mike Hendrix officiating.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
