Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Memorial Satilla Health will offer Saturday mammogram appointments in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
Hours for the examinations will be 8 a.m. to noon. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call (912) 287-2650.
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting women, but with early screening and advancements in medical care, survival rates continue to improve. One in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer.
Regular mammograms can reduce breast cancer mortality by 20-40 percent in women 40 and older.
“We encourage all women to prioritize their health by scheduling regular mammograms and performing self-exams. Early detection saves lives, and we are here to support you every step of the way,” said Brenda O’Steen, VP of Operations at Memorial Satilla.
Memorial Satilla will be host for a reception and Survivor Recognition Ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 3 in the hospital’s main lobby to kick off the month’s observance.
“As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we stand together in support of those affected by breast cancer — patients, survivors, families, and friends,” Chief Executive Officer Dale Neely said. “ Our team is committed to providing compassionate care and support for early detection in the fight against this disease.”
