NAHUNTA — Brantley County commissioners officially adopted millage rates for both unincorporated and incorporated areas during a called meeting Thursday night.
Commissioners, on a motion by Brian Hendrix and second by Andy Riggins, unanimously set the final county-side gross millage in the unincorporated area at 20.1297 mills, less 3.9061 mills for insurance premium tax rollback, less 3.7326 mills for the local options sales tax rollback for a net M&O millage of 12.4910 during the September 19 meeting for the nearly $17 million FY25 budget.
Commissioner Hal Herndon made a motion, with a second from Commissioner Riggins and unanimously passed, to set the final gross millage in the incorporated area at 20.1297 mills, less 3.7326 mills for the local option sales tax rollback for a net M&O millage of 16.3971 (excludes insurance premium tax rollback which city receives directly).
Commissioner Riggins made a motion, with a second by Commissioner Hendrix and unanimously passed, to approve the Brantley County Board of Education’s millage in the amount of .61 mills as bond and 15.3 mills as net M&O millage for a total millage of 15.91 mills.
The county-wide special fire districts of Hortense, Nahunta (incorporated and unincorporated) and Hoboken millage was set at 1.25 mills.
