HOBOKEN — Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Thomas Lane, 94 of Hoboken, died early Friday morning, September 20, 2024 at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Lane was born in Hoboken to the late Albert Thomas and Zettie Griffin Thomas.

Mrs. Lane worked for King Edward Cigar Factory in Waycross for several years early in life. Her most cherished role was that of a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and homemaker.

Mrs. Lane was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and most recently since the death of her husband “Junior”, had been attending Primitive Baptist services.

She loved the outdoors. Mrs. Lane enjoyed working in her flower garden and picking pecans from her trees. She loved spending any moment she could with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved being a grandmother. Mrs. Lane enjoyed attending rodeos and barrel races in support of her grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Junior” Barney Lane; two great grandchildren, Zack and Zek Cravey; and five brothers, Wendall Thomas, Elvin Thomas, Keith Thomas, Gerald Thomas and Ferrell Thomas.

Mrs. Lane is survived by two sons and daughters- in-law, William Lanis Lane (Ellen) of Hoboken, Albert Loren Lane (Edna) of Hoboken; a daughter and son-inlaw, Laura Elizabeth Driggers (Nick), of Stephenville, Texas.; seven grandchildren, Christa Lane Cravey (Clay) of Manor, Will Shot Lane (Lindsey) of Pearson, Casey Lane, Cassy Lane Lee (Norman) and Jessica Lane Sills (John) all of Hoboken, Kaleb Driggers (Nicole) of Stephenville, Texas, and Kelsey Chace (Kelby) of Cherokee, Okla.; 11 great grandchildren, Lacey and Laney Simmons, Loren “LJ” Nettles, Mesa Lane, Briar Sills, Tate Cravey, Korli Chace, Koat Chace, Kasli Chace, Memphis Lane and Ledger Driggers; a special friend, Haley Crews (Brandon) of Patterson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service was held Monday, Septemher 23, 2024 at Little Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Burial followed in High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church Cemtery.
