Roy Lindren Lanier O’Steen

Roy Lindren Lanier O’Steen,  83, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness.

Born October 15, 1939, in Pierce County, he was a son of the late James Harvey and Sadie Dixon O’Steen. He lived most of his life in Blackshear and was a veteran, having served 12 years in the United States Army and United States Navy, with two tours in Vietnam. He had worked as a meat cutter for Red & White Grocery Store and had been a self-employed welder. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded his wife, Sybil Latriece Dowling O’Steen.

Survivors include his son, Lindern Lenair O’Steen (wife Barbara), Augusta; his step-daughter, Rhonda Lairsey, Brunswick; 3 grandchildren, Danny Hall Jr., Blayke O’Steen and Victoria O’Steen; a great-grandson, Odin Hall; two sisters, JoAnn Porter (husband Burt) and Jeanette Thomas, both of Fernandina Beach, FL; two brothers, Ronald O’Steen and Barney O’Steen (wife Wanda), both of Blackshear and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, from the Shiloh Cemetery with Elder Daniel Drawdy officiating.
