Lee Family reunion Oct. 6 in Hoboken HOBOKEN — The descendants of James F. and Nancy Griffin Lee will hold their annual family reunion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, October 6 at the Hoboken Community Center, 294 Chicago Avenue.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend.

A business meeting will be held at 12:15 p.m., followed by lunch which will be served at 12:30 p.m.

Bring your favorite covered dish and beverage. Meats (ribs, chicken, sausage) and ice will be provided as well as utensils for eating.

Deal family reunion Saturday, Oct. 12 BRISTOL — The 54th annual J.C. Deal family reunion will take place Saturday, October 12, at the Long Branch Community Center, 3419 Long Branch Rd., Bristol, in Appling County.

The center will open at 11 a.m. for those who would like to come early and visit with relatives. A short business meeting will convene at noon with lunch to follow.

BCHS Class of 1974 sets 50th reunion The 50th reunion for the Brantley County Class of 1974 will be held Saturday, October 12 at the Okefenokee Country Club.

A meet and greet will be at 4 p.m., with a meal served at 6:30 p.m. Menu must be preordered and paid in advance to Leonard Harris, 1762 Riverside Road, Nahunta, 31553.

Meal will be choice of steak or shrimp, baked potato or french fries, with salad bar, dessert and beverage for $40 per person. Doneness of steak, or choice of shrimp (fried/grilled) and potato choice should accompany payment.

Griffin-Bell has reunion Nov. 24 HOBOKEN — The annual Griffin-Bell family reunion will be held Sunday, November 24 at the lunchroom of Hoboken Elementary, 224 Church Street.

Hospice Satilla sets grief support class WAYCROSS — Hospice Satilla is holding a grief support program every Thursday.

The group meets from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carl Jones Family Counseling Center, 809 Beacon Street. The program is free and open to the public.

Remaining sessions will be held September 19, 26 and October 3.

Breast Cancer Awareness event WAYCROSS — Memorial Satilla Health will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Month reception at 6 p.m., Thursday, October 3 in the hospital’s Main Lobby, 1900 Tebeau Street.

There will be guided tours of MSH’s 3D Mammography Suite along with a survivor recognition ceremony. The event also will include skincare consultations, refreshments and prizes.

Advisory council seeks youth aides UNDATED — The Youth Advisory Council of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential is seeking teens and young adults with an interest in serving as adolescent health advocates and youth leaders.

The youth would be ambassadors with excellent growth opportunities with the program, which stresses, education, prevention and action for adolescent health.

The program seeks young Georgia residents ages 14-24 from every county in the state who have interests in the health of other young people and their overall wellbeing while serving as young leaders for social change in their communities.

Foster Park sets Swamper Heritage FARGO — Stephen C. Foster State Park, 17515 Ga. Hwy 17 in Fargo, will hold Swamper Heritage Day from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 26.

Visit the Okefenokee frontier in the 19th Century to experience life as it was in the remote wilderness. Walk among authentic settler camps to see demonstrations on blacksmithing, pine needle basketry, spinning and weaving, and musket firing.

Marine League has Thursday meetings All Marines and others interested in supporting Marines and other veterans are invited to the regular monthly meeting of the Waycross Marine Corps League Detachment 1333.

The group meets the third Thursday of each month at The Olive Garden in Waycross. The next meeting is October 17.

First-time participants receive a free meal for the visit. Dinner and social hour is 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting.

Amvets Post 621 slates meeting

WAYCROSS — The C.C. Stephens Amvets Post 621 meets at 9 a.m. the second Saturday of each month at the post on Ossie Davis Parkway.

The next meeting is October 12.

Amvets is open to all retired veterans in the area. The new Amvet Riders Chapter will meet at 10 a.m. and the women’s auxiliary group will meet at 11 a.m.

Dementia support group organized The Refinery, 522 Miles Still Road, is the site for a support group program for dementia caregivers.
