Harold Loyd ‘H.L.’ Gunter

WAYCROSS — Mr. Harold Loyd “H.L.” Gunter, 89, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.

Gunter was born in Pierce County to the late Loyd Lawton Gunter and

Gunter Susie Altman Gunter. He was a farmer for many years, but had also been a bus driver for the Brantley County Board of Education as well.

In addition to his parents, Gunter was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hickox Gunter; and three sisters, Teresa Taylor (Calvin), Vernell Lee (Eugene), and Agnes Hickox (Gene).

He is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Stokes (Barry) of Hortense and Carol McDonald (Mike) of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Brook Williams (Lance), Sarah Waguespack (Tyler), Courtney Wainright (Corey), Lindsey Quinones (Brian) and Matthew McDonald (Haley); 10 great grandchildren, Lance Williams, Jr., Anna Williams Mock (Brayden), Lane Wainright, Chloey Wainright, Gracyn Quinones, Jayce Quinones, Jax Quinones, Gia Kate Quinones, Molly Grace McDonald and Charlotte McDonald; and A great-great grandson, Jayden Mock; a sister, Yevonne Petty of Marietta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Mars Hill Cemetery.

Music Funeral Home of Waycross was in charge of arrangements.
