CANEY BAY — Brantley County extended its current winning streak to a season-best six games sweeping a twinbill. from visiting Region 1-A foe Fitzgerald.
The Lady Herons (11-5 overall, 65 region) posted a pair of “mercy rule” shutouts in sweeping the Tuesday, September 10 doubleheader against Fitzgerald (2-16, 113). Brantley County won the opener 10-0 in five innings and 130 in four innings in the nightcap extending the Lady Purple Hurricane losing streak to 11 consecutive games.
BCHS scored 10-plus runs for the fourth straight time. The shutouts gave the Lady Herons three in the six-game winning streak.
The shutouts of the Lady Purple Hurricane were the fifth in six games.
Game 3 of the series finale was moved to October 8 in Fitzgerald.
BCHS traveled Tuesday, September 17 to Nashville to face Berrien in the opener of the three-game region series. The Lady Rebels visit Caney Bay Thursday, September 19 for a twinbill.
Ware County comes to town Monday, September 23 with Thomasville visiting Tuesday, September 24 in Game 1 of a region three-game series. The Lady Herons go to Thomasville Thursday, September 26.

Reagan Mclain tossed a two-hit shutout over five innings and the Lady Herons’ Sydnee Davis and Lexi Byrd hit a homer and drove in three runs apiece in the series opener.
A two-run first inning was more than enough for Mclain, who finished with four strikeouts, hit two batters and needed 63 pitches.
Brantley County broke the game open with a six-run third frame to open up an 8-0 advantage. The Lady Herons plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the final margin.
Lydia Anderson (double, two stolen bases) and Riley Story (double, RBI, two stole bases) each went 3-for-3 to lead BCHS. Davis went 2for-3.
Byrd (1-for-2) and Jayden Lewis (1-for-3) collected a hit apiece.

Brantley County scored eight runs in the second inning and five in the third in beating the Lady Purple Hurricane in four innings.
Mary Hall twirled the three-hit shutout fanning five and walking three. Anderson (2-for-3, RBI, stolen base), Hall (2-for-3, double, RBI) and Byrd (2-for-3, double, RBI) led the Lady Herons at the plate.
Emma Grace Blocker (1-for-2, two RBI, stolen base), Brooklyn Wildes (1-for-3), Story (1-for-2, double, three RBIs, two stolen bases), and Lewis (1-for-2, RBI) added a hit apiece.
