BCHS volleyball falls three times in five matches

Brantley County High School’s volleyball team had a busy week with five matches winning twice.

The Lady Herons (11-14 overall, 3-4 Area 3) stretched its school-record winning streak to five matches outlasting visiting Wayne County 3-2 in the best-of-five match Monday, September 9.

BCHS won the first two sets 25-23, 25-23 before the Yellow Jackets evened the match with 25-21, 2519 victories. Brantley County notched the victory in the deciding set winning 15-9 for the season split. Wayne County prevailed 3-0 at home back on August 19.

The Lady Herons traveled Wednesday, September 11 to Darien to face host McIntosh County Academy and Bryan County.

Brantley County’s winning streak was halted by the Lady Redskins in a 25-10, 15-25, 16-14 setback. The meeting was the third of the season between the two programs with Bryan County winning 2-0 August 27 in Vidalia and the Lady Herons posting a 21 decision at home September 3.

BCHS blanked the Lady Buccaneers 2-0 in the next match winning 25-14, 25-17.

The Lady Herons were swept in an Area 3 match Thursday, September 12 in Savannah against Class 3A-1A ninth-ranked Savannah Christian and host Savannah Country Day.

The unbeaten Lady Red Raiders prevailed 25-13, 25-9 in the opener. The Lady Hornets notched a 2516, 25-13 victory in the second match.

The Lady Herons traveled Monday, September 16 to Lyons to face host Toombs County and Bryan County in a three-team match. Toombs County visited Tuesday, September 17.

Brantley County goes to Savannah Thursday, September 19 to face host Woodville-Tompkins and St. Vincent’s Academy.
