WACT season opens

Waycross Area Community Theatre opens its 202425 season next month with “Steel Magnolias” at the Historic Ritz Theatre, 309 Pendleton Street in downtown Waycross.

Show dates are Thursday-Sunday, October 3-6 and Thursday-Saturday, October 10-12. Performances Thursday-Saturday are at 7:30 p.m. with the Sunday show at 2:30 p.m.

Admission is $15 per person. Reservations can be made for any performance by calling the Ritz box office at (912) 283-2161.

The box office will be open an hour before each performance for tickets.

This stage classic is a beautiful story of strong and delicate women and how they support each other. It’s a play that will bring out an array of emotions from hilarious laughter to somber tears.

“Steel Magnolias” is directed by Stanley Sinkfield and features a cast including Amy Worthington as Truvie, Brittany Boatright as Clairee, Kayla Dixon as M’Lynn, Adeline Weiderman as Ouiser, Joshayla Pierre as Shelby, and Mady Kate Bullard as Annelle.

The show is the first of four scheduled this season for the local theatre group. Others are: “Five Golden Rings,” beginning Thursday, December 5; “Willy Wonka,” beginning Thursday, March 6; and “Deathtrap,” beginning Thursday, May 1.
