Elizabeth Leighann Waters

WAYNESVILLE – Elizabeth Leighann Waters, 38 of Waynesville, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., after a brief illness.

Born in Jesup, Ms. Waters’ parents are Tony Lee Waters and Sheryl Lynn

Johnson Waters. She is preceded in death by her grandpare nts, Wanette Johnson and Gladys and Graham Waters; three aunts, Dawn Waters, Annie Lou Williams and Nadean “Na” Taylor; and a cousin, Carly Woodson.

Ms. Water was a welder and attended Nahunta Church of God. She was also a member of Brunswick Church of God of Prophecy. Ms. Water loved gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking and writing especially poems. She also loved art and was an avid animal lover.

Survivors include two sons, Conner Mauney of Kansas and Kohlton Mauney of Jesup; three daughters, Mikaylah Mauney of Waynesville and Kolbey Gibson and Koree Gibson of Hickox; her mother and stepfather, Sheryl and Anthony Waters of Waynesville; her father, Tony Waters of Hickox; her sister, Kristy Waters (Nick) of Waynesville; three nieces, Maya Chisolm, Amelia Roberson and Madelyn Roberson all of Waynesville; her aunts and uncles, George and Rhonda Dixon of Hickox, Juanita Woodson of Atkinson, Bobby Johnson of Atkinson, Donna and Tony Gibson of Hickox and Stevie Waters of Hickox; and also several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service was held Saturday morning, September 7, 2024 at Nahunta Church of God with Bishop Eric Dixon and Rev. Charles Florey officiating.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
