BEARVILLE — Pierce County Middle School received two touchdowns apiece from three different players in beating visiting Brantley County Middle School 59-0 here Wednesday afternoon.
The defending Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference champion Bears (20) raced out to a 40-0 halftime advantage with the second half being played under the “mercy rule.”
PCMS finished the game with eight touchdowns with the defense recording a pair of safeties.
The Bears’ offense piled up 288 yards on the ground with six different backs combining for just 14 carries. PCMS did not attempt a pass.
Brantley Middle totaled minus-nine yards on the ground and in total offense running 24 plays.
The Bears scored on their first offensive play, a 35-yard run by Jayme Perez (three carries, 93 yards) and the two-point conversion. Perez would add a second touchdown.
After recording a safety, Pierce Middle padded the margin with a 34-yard run by Ja’Shun Faison (five carries, 83 yards) on the second snap of the possession, his first of two scoring runs. Perez tacked on the two-point conversion for an 18-0 advantage.
Dawson Braddy (2 carries, 64 yards) would also score twice. Dathan Thornton (one carry, 24 yards) and Will Higginson (two carries, 15 yards) added a touchdown apiece.
BCMS was led by Skky Saunders, who finished with nine yards on 10 attempts.
