BEARVILLE — Brantley County’s all-state candidate Carson Jacobs (52) does his best impersonation of the late NFL great Reggie White (Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers) splitting two Pierce County defenders to register a sack of Bears’ pre-season all-state quarterback Caden Mc-Gatha. Jacobs recorded three sacks of McGatha during the Herons’ 42-7 loss. First-year head coach David Shores moved the 6-foot-5, 240-pound giant to the nose guard position from his defensive end/outside linebacker role of the previous three seasons to bolster the BCHS defensive front and create problems for opposing offenses. The move drew rave reviews from PCHS head coach Ryan Herring. “I think moving that big kid (Jacobs) inside helped them (Herons) a lot on the defensive side. That was good move.”
