Linda Ruth Wasdin Herrin

WINOKUR — Linda Ruth Wasdin Herrin, 73 of Winokur, passed away Saturday morning, August 31, 2024 at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Folkston, her parents were Lonnie Thomas Wasdin and Pearl Wildes Wasdin.

Mrs. Herrin was a 1968 graduate of Charlton County High School. She lived in Winokur all of her life and was a member of Winokur Baptist Church.

Mrs. Herrin worked at Brantley County Middle School in the lunchroom for 18 years. She was a volunteer firefighter with Winokur Volunteer Fire Department Station 5.

Mrs. Herrin always enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking for people, and especially going to yard sales.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Jerry Allen Herrin of Winokur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Chris Sirmans of Hickox and Lacy and Gene Cox of Adairsville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Gage Copeland (Alexis) and their son, Ryan, and Jerrin Sirmans; sisters-inlaw, Laurel Herrin (the late Perry Lee Herrin), Lucille Herrin (the late Stanley Herrin) and Juanita Crews (the late Danny Crews; best friends that were like sisters), Shirley Crews (the late Archie Crews) and Sue O’Berry (husband Pete); several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service was held Tuesday morning, September 3, 2024 at Knox Cemetery with Rev. Ray McMillan officiating.

Pallbearers were Christopher Sirmans, Gene Cox, Gage Copeland, Stephen Crews, Perry Herrin and Scott Herrin.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
