BRUNSWICK — Gene “Larry” Mullins was born on September 29, 1947, in Virginia and passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Brunswick following an extended illness.

Mullins is preceded in death by his mother, Margarita Arrington; his brother, Jimmy Mullins; and sister, Loretta Mullins.

Prior to retiring from AMTRAK Railway as a train conductor after 37 years of service, Mullins also served in the United States Navy for four years. He enjoyed playing pool, boxing and watching old Westerns.

Mullins is survived by his three sons, Larry Mullins of Saint Simons Island, Eddie (Lea) of Waynesville and Richard (Betty) of Brunswick; the mother of his sons/caretaker, Joyce Coley of Waynesville; seven grandchildren, Corey A. Mullins (Tracy) Loren E. Durrance (Jim) Lana M. Mullins, Ryan A. Mullins, Francisco Barrera (Nayeli), Antonio E. Mullins and Johnny L. Mullins; eight great grandchildren, Gracy Mullins, Makayla Durrance, Mackenzie Durrance, Daniel Durrance, Elias Mullins, Noah Mullins, Eliana Mullins and Xavier Barrera; sisters, Carole Rosso and Cherry Guynee of Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Joan Mullins of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Services have been provided by Brunswick Memorial Park. A small memorial service will be held at a later time for immediate family.

Brunswick Memorial Park was in charge of the arrangements.
