Christopher Todd has been named the new fire chief for Pierce County.
County Chairman Neal Bennett confirmed Todd’s selection as the new chief last week.
Bennett and Public Safety Director Blake James both said they believe Todd will do a great job for the county.
“He is a Pierce Countian and he isn’t going anywhere,” said James. “He loves the people of this county and he has already shown through his service in the fire department that he is dedicated to serving our citizens.”
Todd is expected to begin his duties soon and will be officially introduced as the new chief at the county’s December meeting.
Todd, 40, is a long-time Pierce County resident and a 2003 graduate of Pierce County High School.
He has been a volu nteer with the Pierce County Volunteer Fire Department for over a decade and recently served as the chief of the Southside Fire Station.
He has also been employed with Pepsi Bottling Company for the past 20 years.
Todd and his wife, Karissa, have two children, Matthew and Madi.
Todd fills the vacancy left by the resignation of former Chief Santo Niño in September.
