Moxley dismissed as director of library

Three Rivers Regional Library System (TRRLS) Director Clint Moxley has been dismissed from his position.

The action came last Thursday, Nov. 14 during a meeting of the Three Rivers Regional Library System Board of Trustees.

The board voted unanimously to dismiss Moxley. Interim Director Pat Herndon will serve until a replacement is hired.

Jim Cote, chairman of the TRRLS regional board of trustees, said the board holds transparency and community trust in the highest regard.

“(We) will continue to inform the public and funders about any additional steps being taken. The library will continue to serve the community’s information and recreational needs, promote literacy and provide welcoming environments for study and personal development,” said Cote.

Recruitment efforts for a new, permanent director began immediately.

The decision to dismiss Moxley comes after an investigation was opened in October into misuse of public funds in the TRRLS.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the case.

Pierce County Library joined the Three Rivers System in July. The local branch left the Okefenokee Regional System over controversies surrounding certain sexual displays and bathroom policies.
