Patterson City Council Highlights

(The Patterson City Council discussed and/or voted on the following items during their monthly meeting Thursday, November 14. ) Tyre Bridge Road: Mayor Dedi Thomas gave an update listing improvements on Tyre Bridge Road including new rumble strips, new pavement markings, larger stop signs and canal clean-outs. Residents Ala Mae Myles and Myra Vanessa James asked for more improvements, including the installation of speed bumps in the neighborhood. (See related story.)

Christmas in the Park: It was announced that Christmas in the Park will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at the Patterson Lions Park. (See related story.)

Department reports: Police Chief Nick Strickland reported his department responded to 10 calls for service in October. Strickland is also acting as public works superintendent and fire chief while Public works superintendent and fire chief Stevie Sweat is out on medical leave. Strickland said public works is making progress to remove tree debris left behind in the wake of Hurricane Helene. He reported the U.S. Highway 84 and Georgia Highway 32 thoroughfares have been cleared of debris. Work crews are currently working on cleaning up along city streets. Strickland said public works will get back to regular pick-up schedules once debris is cleared city-wide. Strickland also reported on efforts to improve the EMS station in Patterson. He announced an ambulance should be reassigned to the Patterson EMS Station soon. There was no report from the city clerk.

Next meeting: The next regular monthly meeting will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 12. The meeting will be held at Eagle Station.
