Coastal Pines Adult Education Program Exceeds 2024 goals

Coastal Pines Technical College’s (CPTC) Adult Education Program is the first of only two providers in the state of Georgia to exceed their High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) diploma attainment for the 2024 fiscal year.

CPTC surpassed this goal by having 189 adult education and English Speakers of Other Languages (ESL) students earn their HSE diplomas. The Adult Education Program exceeded by 120.4% their HSE attainment goal and served a total of 1,089 adult education students in comparison to 1,064 students in 2023 fiscal year.

For two consecutive years, CPTC’s Adult Education Program has surpassed its HSE diploma goal set by The Technical College System of Georgia’s Office of Adult Education. The program continues to be highly praised by the State of Georgia for their “outstanding performance” in providing effective adult literacy services throughout Southeast Georgia.

“This is absolutely amazing! I have the best team in the state, and I could not be prouder! The positive impact adult literacy services have on the lives of our students is a true testament to how important it is to eradicate illiteracy while strengthening the relationship between education and economic opportunities for everyone,” said Katrena Felder, CPTC’s Executive Director of the Adult Education Program. “We are very appreciative of how supportive and invested our communities are of Coastal Pines. CPTC’s adult education faculty, staff, students and I believe that when you share a vision, work as a team and remain focused on the mission, “excellence wins”.”

Coastal Pines Technical College offers associate degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates of credit, as well as continuing education opportunities, economic development services, and adult education courses. The CPTC service delivery area covers 7,431 square miles in the southeastern region of Georgia. In addition to the main campus in Waycross, the College serves a total of 13 counties in our service delivery area, including Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Clinch, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Long, Pierce, McIntosh and Wayne Counties.
