Lena Faye Rowland Tyson, 84, of Blackshear, passed away early Saturday morning, November 26, 2022, at Satilla Bluffs Senior Care, following an extended illness.
Born February 24, 1938, in Jesup, she was a daughter of the late Henry Howard and Avie Dell Rozier Rowland. She grew up in Jesup and graduated from Wayne County High School but had lived most of her life in Pierce County. She had obtained her cosmetology license but had worked many years in clothing retail. She had been the manager for Vogue, The Body Shop, It’s Fashion and retired from Cato’s. She was of the Baptist faith and had attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Rowland, Annette Sellers, Howard Rowland and Juanell Starrett.
Survivors include her three daughters, Lynne Hayman (husband Johnny), St. Augustine, FL, Robin Dorsett, Blackshear and Niki Whitaker (husband Mark),, Winder; five grandchildren, Staci Cason Kelly (husband Dan), St. Augustine, Markel Dorsett Smith (husband Jacob), Brunswick, Kaili Dorsett Waters (husband David), Jacksonville, Jena Hayman, New Smyrna Beach, FL and Hannah Cloud, Blackshear; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Shearer and Collin Kelly, St. Augustine, Jayden and Kylan Smith, Brunswick, Hadaley Waters, Jacksonville, Fl and William “Liam” Perry Barber IV, Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
