Lucretia Gail Shivar Jones, 78, of Folkston, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 22, 2024, at Southeast Georgia Health System – Brunswick Campus.

Born in Folkston, September 8, 1946, she lived in Folkston most of her life. She worked for the Charlt o n County Board of Education as a school bus driver as well as a paraprofessional. She loved doing all kinds of crafts, specially making gourd people and Christmas ornaments. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning and fishing. She loved her children and enjoyed sharing stories with them as well as with her children at school. She was a member of Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Bernard L. and Leah Marie McKendree Shivar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerral Joe Jones, who passed away on August 9 of this year; two grandchildren, Jessica Thompson and Lance Thompson and her brother, Tommy Shivar.

Survivors include her four sons and daughtersin- law, Brian (Mickey) Thompson, Tift (Shirley) Thompson, Rodney (Tina) Thompson, and Travis (Brandy) Thompson, all of St. George; nine grandchildren, T.J. Thompson (Kelsey), Heather Hunter, Ethan Hunter, Sarah (Richard) Davis, Kalee (Daniel) Gould, Amber (Justin) Dunlap, Seth Thompson, Destiny (Jay) Lloyd and Kyla Thompson; 13 great-grandchildren, Lakelyn, Shivar, Sterling, Steel, Hadlee, Eloise, Laney, Charlee, Macie, Rosalina, Renesmae, Gavin and Brantley; her pet dog, Lucy and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, from the Sardis Cemetery in Charlton County.
